Keefe's gripping narrative non-fiction about a 1972 murder in Northern Ireland at the height of the Troubles, echoes some aspects or the urban guerrilla violence in 1970s Argentina, a subject I explore in my debut novel.

I attended a webinar reading and conversation with writer and Macarthur Fellow Valeria Luiselli. The evening was organized by Princeton University's Program in Latin American Studies and hosted by Rubén Gallo and Jhumpa Lahiri. The event left me thinking about many things: one's mother tongue, translating one's own work and Luiselli's comment that the United States is home to 60 million Latinos, which, in effect, makes it also a Hispanic country.
