The following news article regards the closing of the Buenos Aires Herald, a local newspaper that spoke out against Argentina's last military dictatorship when Robert Cox was its editor. Cox read some of my creative non-fiction stories from my interviews with children of the Desaparecidos and encouraged me to keep writing. His words inspired my debut novel.

Keefe's gripping narrative non-fiction about a 1972 murder in Northern Ireland at the height of the Troubles, echoes some aspects or the urban guerrilla violence in 1970s Argentina, a subject I explore in my debut novel.

I attended a webinar reading and conversation with writer and Macarthur Fellow Valeria Luiselli. The evening was organized by Princeton University's Program in Latin American Studies and hosted by Rubén Gallo and Jhumpa Lahiri. The event left me thinking about many things: one's mother tongue, translating one's own work and Luiselli's comment that the United States is home to 60 million Latinos, which, in effect, makes it also a Hispanic country.
